Preventing Fires in Barns
Barn fires are getting worse it seems these days here are a few steps to help ensure your barn is safe for your beloved equines!
1. NO smoking anywhere near your barns or in your barns and outbuildings no excuses
2. NEVER store hay in the same barn as your horses EVER!
3. Have all wiring checked every 6 months by an electrician and have local firefighters check your barn for hot spots with their equipment if they have it.
4. All fans, heaters including heated buckets should be checked every 2 weeks if using for cords heating up, worn or frayed wires, do not fix them replace them.
5. All cobwebs should be removed weekly, these are very flammable!
